I chose to not have regrets. None. I chose to start modelling completely out the blue yet i never doubted myself on the fact that will get back to studying one day. I always thought that if I worked hard like anyone else, I’ll get the same respect and chance to pass to the next year toward what I want. Turned out it’s been a shit show since day one. Turned out balancing a job where your worth is based on your appearance and trying to break in a world where everything and everyone feels above that, is way harder than anything I could have thought. I’ve been fighting every single years to prove my worth, my curiosity, my knowledges, my abilities and my resilience to people who never seen past my career. I had to take no as not an answer and I’m grateful that modelling built me to face rejections because god knows how harder it’s been to break into academics while still modelling 😮‍💨 I’ll never be sorry for the path I chose. I’m actually so proud of it. Yet it cost me and is still costing me so much to break into more typical work places. People praise themself for being open minded until they meet someone very atypical. Adding that I had to face the ‘French mentality’ of being afraid of taking risks. In that way I’m grateful that I never been scared to take risks because I would never be where I am🤞🏼 That being said, I’ve never wanted and work so hard for something in my life ever before. And I learned the hard way that no matter how hard I try, only strategies and connexions matter sometime. I can’t do anything about it but learn their way of doing. Despite not agreeing with any of them 🙃 Eternally grateful for the journey it’s been, for things I’ve got to experience and for the people who’ve seen beyond my appearance and my career. Don’t let people put u in a box. Keep doing many things and everything. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. Not because it was easy nor fair. But because every detour and wall forced me to become someone I genuinely respect today. Being different is being u and it’s all that matters. Once u get comfortable being different I swear things get better. But I’m not choosing easy, I’m choosing what makes me happy 🫰🏼

Freedom cost me 7€. And 18 years of my life. At the end of last year I finally came forward and put myself in a process to confront the person (earlier this year) who sexually abused me as a child. After 18 years, I closed a chapter I genuinely never thought I would reach. I had come to terms with the idea that it would remain open for the rest of my life. You know that feeling when something you’ve wanted so badly for such a long time that you eventually stop believing it will ever happen, and then it suddenly does? So quickly that your brain hasn’t processed it yet and doesn’t realize it can finally chill ? Yeah. Same. Within months, I finally advocated for myself because I realized a long time ago that no one was ever going to do it for me. I was willing to face my entire family if I had to. I chose me. Not to fight against them. To fight for me. I did that for the 12-year-old me who said no and wasn’t listened to. I did that for the 16-year-old me who experienced her first PTSD. I did that for the 18-year-old and 20-year-old me who ended up in rehab and at the psychiatric wards. I did that for every version of me who silently cried for help and wasn’t heard. I did that for the version of me who stayed silent to protect everyone else. Despite processing that part of my life a long time ago with the help of professionals, it took me some time to advocate for myself publicly, and it was probably one of the hardest and easiest things I’ve ever had to do at the same time. People praised at me for surviving so many different things very early on, and that build the strength and resilience I do have indeed today. Like surviving was the goal. But I’m not grateful for those bad things who made me who I am. Because sometime I wonder what I would have been without surviving and just living. I made my way out of every single one’s by myself, and created insane opportunities through them, yet, no one should go through SA as a child in order to build strength and resilience. Everybody wants to know what I would do if I didn’t win ? I guess we’ll never know. Fear and shame have finally changed side. And they will never be on mine ever again. Chapter closed.
